Dear Reader,

More and more companies and people are becoming aware of the importance of conserving the environment to ensure the future of our planet. In the building industry, for example, there are now lots of companies, architects and interior designers who are choosing materials which have a minimal impact on nature and save energy use as far as possible.

Here at ROVASI we have been working along these lines for years, and we are proud to announce that we will soon receive ISO 14001 certification, which means we have achieved a series of environmental goals right across the company (sales, production, administration, etc.).

So, for those who want to care for the environment, this newsletter features tips about how to choose the lighting that best suits your needs while also saving on energy use.
And staying with the topic of making the most of energy, we will also be looking at the importance of proper lighting design in heavily transited buildings like hotels which have different lighting needs in different areas.

As always, we hope that you will find this information to be of your interest and we look forward to seeing you again in our next newsletter.

Rovasi thinks green
Here at ROVASI we are passionate about caring for and protecting the environment. That is why one of the main goals we set for this year was to gain ISO14001 certification, which means achieving a series of environmental goals right across the company (sales, production, administration, etc.).

Plus ever since it was founded ECOLUM, ROVASI has been a member of it, a non-profit organisation which as an integrated management system strives to care for and protect the environment by meeting waste management needs in lamps and lighting appliances.

In lockstep with complying with ISO14001 requirements, as part of our manufacturing processes ROVASI also seeks to enhance the use of its website as a reference tool and it brings out a CD version of its catalogue. That way we can cut down on print runs for the hardcopy edition with all of the environmental benefits that that brings with it.

Other things that can be done
Caring for the environment is thus one of our company's essential goals, and here we would like to give you some tips about saving in lighting which we hope you will find useful.

  • Use energy saving or compact fluorescent bulbs. This is the best bulb for replacing incandescent ones as they fit in the vast majority of lighting systems that previously used incandescent bulbs. They give off the same quantity of visible light using less energy and they also have a longer expected life.

  • Choose the lamps with the lowest power rating from the range so you can use less energy while still complying with comfort parameters.

  • Install motion sensor systems with lighting limiters. That way, instead of the light suddenly going off after the time set by the motion sensor has elapsed or maintaining maximum luminance, the circuit drops to a low lighting level until the person moves away. This makes it possible to combine safety and energy saving.

  • Install natural light sensors combined with setting artificial light requirements. These sensors measure the amount of natural light available and compare it with the values set by the user in order to add only the quantity of artificial light that is strictly needed.
