Rovasi Positive Lighting

As you will have already noticed, we like and are proud to share with you projects that have been carried out using ROVASI lighting systems. That is because we think it is important to let you know why customers are happy with the lighting provided by our products.

In this issue of our newsletter we look at lighting projects for educational facilities (schools, kindergartens, universities, etc.) and for hospitals. As you know, lighting has to meet very demanding technical and visual comfort requirements in these places. Thanks to the studies carried out by our technical department, ROVASI can offer a wide range of lighting systems that comply with the strictest parameters.

Lighting systems in educational facilities need to create a comfortable visual environment that is suitable for the range of activities that take place in classrooms. Moreover, students using the facility are growing up physically and need premium quality lighting to ensure their eyesight develops properly.

Good lighting provides students and teachers with the visual comfort they need to carry out their activities with no need for visual over-exertion and also helps to create an agreeable and stimulating atmosphere.

Particular attention has to be paid to the following:

• Making appropriate use of natural light coming in through the windows.


• Screening lights to prevent glare.


• The colour temperature of the light.


• Careful siting of the lights to avoid glare and ensure students do not create a shadow over their own work.

Also important is lighting that is energy saving, and here we would refer you to ROVASI's solutions which we described in June's newsletter.

Here at ROVASI we have photometric data for the bulk of our line and so can carry out studies and design the lighting system that is most appropriate for each situation.

For schools we also have an anti-vandal line of lights (polycarbonate diffusers, IK10) to ensure safety in areas used for sports.

Examples of recent projects put in place using ROVASI lighting in educational facilities include Université de Gent Monovolume (Belgium), the remodelling of the Jussieu Campus (Paris/France), the American University (Cairo/ Egypt), Gurriana High School (Valencia/Spain), the La Venelle nursery school (Epinyay sur Seine/ France), the Arab University (Beirut/ Lebanon), ESADE University (Spain), and the American College of Cairo (Cairo/Egypt).

There are two fundamental objectives which lighting systems in hospitals and other medical facilities need to achieve: ensuring ideal conditions for providing healthcare and helping to create an atmosphere in which the patient feels comfortable, since lighting combined with other factors can assist patient recovery through having a positive impact on their mood.

In conjunction with the activities performed in hospitals, lighting systems need to:

• Provide excellent sealing to ensure separation between the inside of the light and the clean area and between the latter and false ceilings.


• Minimise infrared radiation.


• Enable easy cleaning to ensure the asepsis of the facility.


• Be free of sharp edges and points.


• Minimise flickering.
